Oh, sunny days! 37°C real-feel temperatures set to hit Malta by the end of the week
Summer is on in full swing so, as expected, all we’re seeing this week is SUN, SUN, and more SUN!
Temperatures are also steadily on the rise as this week is set to bring a sweltering real feel of 37°C forecast by the end of the week.
According to the latest six-day outlook by Maltese Islands Weather, the week begins with bright sunshine on Monday and maximum temperatures reaching 30°C, although humidity and other atmospheric conditions will make it feel closer to 33°C. Overnight temperatures remain warm at around 21°C, offering little respite from the summer heat.
Tuesday brings a slight increase in cloud cover, with partly cloudy skies and highs of 31°C. However, the apparent temperature will already climb to 34°C.
From Wednesday onwards, the islands will return to uninterrupted sunshine. Temperatures are expected to rise further, peaking at 33°C on both Wednesday and Friday, with Thursday only marginally cooler at 32°C. Yet it is the real feel values that are likely to have the biggest impact on residents and visitors alike.
By Friday and Saturday, conditions are expected to feel significantly hotter than the actual air temperature, reaching a scorching 36°C and then 37°C respectively. The combination of intense sunshine, light winds and high humidity will create particularly uncomfortable conditions during the middle of the day.
Sea conditions are forecast to remain generally calm throughout the week, ranging from slight to smooth, making it ideal for beachgoers and those planning boat trips.
Another notable feature of the forecast is the persistently high UV index, which remains at an extreme level of 9 or 10 every day. Health experts typically advise limiting direct sun exposure during peak afternoon hours, staying hydrated and using adequate sun protection.
With summer firmly taking hold, Malta looks set for another classic Mediterranean week of sunshine — but by the weekend, the islands could be experiencing some of the hottest-feeling conditions of the season so far, with temperatures perceived to be as high as 37°C.
