Not something you see everyday...Virtu Ferries spotted in Gozo!
Is it to do with the Pope, the Corona virus or a fast ferry trial run?

People heading down to Mgarr Harbour were in for a different sight than usual with a Virtu ferry catamaran spotted drifting into the harbour before setting sail again.

Many took to social media to comment about the bizarre sighting, some joking that the ferry had mistakenly berthed at the wrong port. Others offered cheekier quips, linking the ferry’s arrival to a comment posted last week which went viral on social media, indicating that a boatload of Italian people afflicted with or suspected of suffering from the Corona virus has been brought down to Gozo to serve their quarantine period on the island.

Two of the more probable theories which have emerged so far involve a trial-run for a fast ferry service between Malta and Gozo (with many rejoicing at the thought!) as well as a possible testing of a fast transport service related to the Pope's visit in May.

When contacted, Virtu Ferries admitted to carrying out some trials, but did not give further information as to the purpose and aim of such testings.

Why do you think the Virtu Ferry catamaran made a trip to Gozo?

When she’s not having a quarter-life crisis, Caroline is either drawing in a café, frittering her salary on sushi or swearing at traffic in full-on Gozitan. There is also the occasional daytime drink somewhere in the equation. Or two. A creative must be allowed at least one vice.
