Malta's football icon, Michael Mifsud, made a memorable debut in the world of sports commentary, joining the BBC CWR Commentary Team for yesterday's clash between Manchester United and Coventry.

Taking to social media, Michael Mifsud expressed his excitement for the opportunity and his deep-rooted affection for Coventry City FC, a club he once proudly represented on the field.

‘Here we go! A different kind of debut today! One I’m really looking forward to’, the former footballer wrote on social media.

Outside the stadium, Michael Mifsud was greeted with enthusiasm by fans, who eagerly engaged with him, seizing the chance for photos and conversation.

Despite the match ending in a draw, penalties ultimately saw Manchester United clinch the victory with a score of 4-2.

‘The greatest fans! An absolute honour for me to be there today! You have made everybody proud. Football is a cruel game sometimes. The best team lost today but that's Football. Coventry, you deserve to be back in the BIG TIME!’
