Last night, many locals tuned in to watch the much-awaited kick off episode of X Factor Malta Season 2. Last year’s judges, Howard Keith, Ira Losco, Alexandra Alden and Ray Mercieca are back behind the judges’ table, seeking out the best local talent for this year’s edition.

But, if you were too busy doing something else (how dare you!) and missed last night’s episode (x’arukuza!) here’s a recap of the best moments during episode one of the Auditions round.
1. Ed Abdilla
This guy shared quite the heart-breaking story. Ed’s parents split a while back and this year, his mother was diagnosed with a brain tumour, and sadly didn’t make it far, passing away three months later. The ukulele player went straight through to bootcamp, totally deserving it.
2. The two adorable teachers
These two are changing the lives of so many, working with those in need. While they didn’t get through to bootcamp, their message was never to give up and pursue whatever it is you want to do in life. #motivation
3. This powerhouse
Lisa-Marie Tabone brought the audition room down, returning after last season, this time as a solo act. She immediately got the seal of approval from Howard Keith and moved on to Bootcamp. It was a no brainer really. My own jaw dropped.
4. A ray of hope
Life has been a bit tough lately for Luke Baldacchino, but he found solace in his music, presenting an original song that helped him realise it was time to end his marriage. The father-of-two impressed viewers and judges, receiving yeses from all four judges for his performance.
5. This original song
Kersten Graham is no stranger to the music scene, this time taking on a new challenge heading to X Factor. He presented his own original song on guitar and his husky, bluesy voice hit us right in the music feels. With four yeses, he’s going to bootcamp!
BONUS: “Il-Bambin baghatkom”
This was probably the BEST moment in my humble opinion (totally not biased in any way considering he’s a great friend of mine). While many thought Luke Vassallo was saying “il-Bambin maghkom,” (God be with you) he actually said “il-Bambin baghatkom” (God sent you – it’s a great day). Such a cutie!
We can’t wait to see what’s in store! X Factor Malta will be on Television Malta every Sunday at 8.50pm.
