Miniature Malta wonderland! ‘The Biggest Little Motor Show’ celebrates all things tiny this December
One of the many events to look forward to in December is the annual event organised by Die Cast & Scale Model Society, aptly named ‘The Biggest Little Motor Show’ – an event eagerly awaited by most miniature model car enthusiasts, set to take place between the 12th and 15th of December.
The collection of miniature model cars has become an increasingly popular hobby, such that, because of the influx of members in the past few months, a bigger hall was needed to be found from last year’s edition! This means that this year’s show will be held at Qalb Ta’ Gesu Pastoral Center in Qrendi.
Aside from the popular collections that this exhibition typically sees, including road cars of various brands, classic, modern and sports cars, construction and commercial vehicles, one can also find rally cars, an exhibition about Valentino Rossi with motor bikes and helmets, together with a selection of cars featured in movies. After an absence of several years, two interesting F1 collections will be displayed by two new members who recently joined the club.
An ever-growing concept in these exhibitions is a variety of dioramas made by the collectors themselves, in an effort to give their displays a more realistic look. Among these, one will find a drag racing diorama, a truck show, a showroom, a miniature airport inspired by the one in Hamburg, a model train and a diorama of Malta’s Grand Harbour! One of the main attractions of this exhibitions, however, is a unique Model Circus, sure to delight anyone present at this event.
And that’s not all! A vast collection of models handmade from recycled material will also be on display. These include the iconic Maltese buses, classic Maltese trade vehicles and several models of classic cars from times gone by.
This year, the society has also invited Rebecca Micallef to exhibit one of her popular doll houses from her popular collection – My Miniature World, contributing even more models to this celebration of all things miniature.
Entrance to the exhibition is free of charge – don’t miss this unique event!
