United in diversity! EUNIC Film Festival to light up Valletta's Spazju Kreattiv Cinema next week
The fourth edition of the EUNIC Film Festival is set to light up Valletta next week, running from Tuesday, September 24th to Sunday, September 29th.
The festival will feature fourteen films at the Spazju Kreattiv Cinema, showcasing cinematic works from across Europe, including Poland, France, Spain, Austria, and Malta. This year's theme, 'United in Diversity', celebrates the rich cultural differences among the over 100 countries represented by EUNIC.
One highlight is the Maltese film 'Carmen', which follows the inspiring journey of a woman who leaves her village after years of caring for her brother, the local priest. The film was released in 2022, and was directed by the Maltese-Canadian actress and filmmaker Valerie Buhagiar. The titular role is played by Natascha McElhone, known for her role in ‘The Truman Show’, and stars local actors including Michaela Farrugia and Mikhail Basmadjian.
