Meet Joseph! The man building models of traditional Maltese water taxis from recycled materials
Joseph has beautiful workmanship

Joseph is an 87-year-old Maltese man who spends his time building small model boats of the traditional Maltese water taxis and the best thing about it is that he only uses recycled materials.

“Here I find peace and tranquillity and a little diversion”, Joseph expressed in an interview with ‘The People of Malta!

Unfortunately, Joseph revealed that traders here in Malta buy the model boats off him at a very low price and then sell it to tourists and other customers at a much more extreme price.

And that is why no youngsters will take up this type of work. I am unable to sell them directly myself”, he continued explaining.

Joseph also reminisced on how he used to build kitchen cupboards but due to his age and the physical demands of the work, he switched to Maltese boats and balconies.

I do everything myself, from beginning to end. What I am not capable of doing myself I just do not do”, Joseph concluded.

Well done Joseph!
