Mask-making and costumes! Carnival comes to the Inquisitor’s Palace in Birgu
A colourful Carnival workshop in a historic setting awaits!

Francesca Vella

Looking for a fun Carnival activity for the kids? Heritage Malta is inviting families to the Inquisitor’s Palace in Birgu on Monday 16 February, between 2pm and 3.30pm, for an afternoon of colourful Carnival fun.

Young visitors are encouraged to come along in costume and take part in a hands-on mask-making workshop at the Inquisitor’s Palace and National Museum of Ethnography. Using a range of materials, children will design, cut and decorate their very own Carnival masks to take home.

The activity is guided by the museum team and is designed to spark creativity through traditional making techniques — a craft that has been part of Carnival celebrations for centuries. It’s ideal for younger children and offers a fun way to celebrate Carnival in a unique historical setting.

Tickets include entry for one accompanying adult and are available online as well as from all Heritage Malta museums and sites.

Ready to get creative?
