Manikata Road set to be closed from this upcoming Monday as Water Services resume works
There’s no indication as of yet as to how long this will take.
The Mellieha Local Council has taken to social media to inform its residents and any drivers that pass through the village that Manikata road will be closed off from Monday,16th January onwards as the Water Services Corporation will be resuming works.

This means that vehicles passing from Mgarr to Manikata have to pass through Kappella tal-Militar Street, il-Harrub Street and Mejjiesa Street instead.
On the other hand, vehicles driving from Mgarr to Manikata will have to drive through Knisja l-Qadima Street and exit from Biedja Street.
The closure of this part of Manikata Road will affect bus route 44. Therefore, Mellieha local council are organising a minibus shuttle every 30 minutes from 6:30am to 10pm that will pass through the following streets:
- In-Naħħalija Street
- Il-Kappella tal-Militar Street
- Il-Wilġa Street
- Il-Ħarrub Street
- Il-Mejjiesa Street
- Il-Knija l-Qadima Street
- Il-Biejda Street
- Għajn Tuffieħa Street
The Council also informed the public that works will now take longer than what was originally expected due to the excavation being monitored by the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage.
