Malta’s National Sports School swimmers win big at the World School Games in London
Malta’s National Sports School swimmers and students have made their country extremely proud after winning a number of gold, silver and bronze medals at the World School Games that took place at the prestigious London Olympic Aquatic Centre.
The successful swimming team consisted of Year 7 student, Elize Cushing, Year 9 students, Luke Zammit, Sophia Allen, Ema Liz Cassar, Kaylen Cutajar and Yulya Bonnici and Year 10 students, Julienne Woods and Elisa Ceccato.

Sophia, Yulya, Ema Liz and Julienne took home the gold medal for the four by 50m freestyle relay race.
In the process they managed to obtain a new national record after finishing the race with a time of 1.55.26. The previous record was set in 2009 with a clocked time of 2:00.80.
The same exact four students also managed bronze in the four by 50m medley relay.
Apart from her team medals, Yuyla brought home with her an impressive number of additional individual medals. She got silver in 50m backstroke, 50m Butterfly, 100m Butterfly and 100m Freestyle while also managing a bronze in the 50m freestyle.
Julienne spectacularly took home the gold in the 50m freestyle and also grabbed the gold after dominating the U15 freestyle with a time of 1:00.24.
Every other swimmer on team managed to beat their own records, triumphing over their own personal bests.
The team was coached by Davina Camilleri.
