Malta Police Force warns against increasing cybercriminals during COVID-19

The Malta Police Force, together with Interpol, Cyber Security Malta, and MITA, are warning against ransomware and the increased schemes cybercriminals are conducting, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Be careful! During the Covid-19 pandemic Cybercriminals have intensified their attacks and online schemes,” the campaign says. “Criminals can lock your computer or device and hold you ransom!”

They give some tips on how to protect your data and device:

1. Do not open untrusted links and email attachments.

2. Only download from sites you trust.

3. Avoid public Wi-Fis

4. Backup and store your date safely.
