Make way! Reckless driver resorts to bike lane to cut traffic
*facepalm*

Malta’s been trying hard to take a leaf out of Europe’s book in terms of adopting alternative methods of transport lately. And despite the implementation of well-meaning bike lanes, they have not always been... well-thought out.

However, it seems that not everyone is aware of their purpose. The Bicycle Advocacy Group took to Facebook to share footage captured by a cyclist on the road this morning which left us fuming at our desks.

The video clearly shows a vehicle casually driving down a bike lane in Hal Far in a move presumed to be executed in order to overtake the cars on the road. The driver, who was in clear violation of road laws, endangered the lives of cyclists present in the area.

While we hope that the driver confused the bike lane with a bus lane (even though technically you’d need to be three in a car to qualify using it), let this act as a reminder for all drivers out there to be mindful on the road.

When she’s not having a quarter-life crisis, Caroline is either drawing in a café, frittering her salary on sushi or swearing at traffic in full-on Gozitan. There is also the occasional daytime drink somewhere in the equation. Or two. A creative must be allowed at least one vice.
