Locals asked to leave secluded Comino spot to make way for tourist boats
What social distancing?

A local shared her experience of being chucked from a spot at Comino today, specifically chosen to social distance from others. In comments to Gwida.mt she shares that she and her group were respecting social distancing measures and wearing a mask when they and others in that area were asked to move aside so that a boat with tourists could dock.

“Authorities came to tell us to move away from the area so a boat with tourists not wearing masks can dock and when we brought to their attention that no one was respecting the rules, do you know what they said? ‘Talk to the Prime Minister, they’re the ones sending us into crowds!’”

It seems that other boats also came along after that. Although our country seems to be business as usual in the tourism department, we still need to adhere to measures as communication by health authorities. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to have been the case this morning. So much so, that the local shared that to make sure that they are safe and away from others, they ended up swimming between boats.

On land it looks like there were quite a number of people there today. It is important to remember health directives and avoid crowded areas as much as possible, especially in places such as beaches.
