It seems like a totally different place.
It’s hard to believe that this virus that has spread across the world managed to quiet such a busy nation, and such a bustling city. Valletta is known for being full of life with many people flocking the streets to head to the finest bars, restaurants and entertainment hubs.
But last night, bars in Valletta decided to take a collective decision and pull their shutters down for the night to do their part in minimising large crowds. And as anticipated, the streets were empty. Local photographer Emma Tranter wandered around, capturing shots of Valletta like we’ve never seen before.
"Friday the 13th - Shooting the streets in Valletta early evening. The main squares usually bustling with people seemed eerily silent but beautiful and sad simultaneously. Stay safe Malta we can get through this together!" she said on socials.
She captured popular places in the capital, like the Parliament, Republic Street, Merchant Street, various historical narrow streets and Auberge de Castille.
She also ventures outside the city, capturing the Triton Fountain, the bus terminus, and the Floriana Granaries which are usually full with people commuting to and from the city.
Remember, stay safe folks. Wash your hands and stay indoors if possible.
