February in Malta is all about Carnival - and while it’s arriving a little later than usual this year, the wait is finally over! From Friday 28th February to Tuesday 4th March, the islands will come alive with colourful parades, parties, and festive fun for all ages.
But why wait until Friday? As per tradition, Hamrun is kicking things off early with its annual band parade this Sunday 23rd February at 10 AM, taking place at St Joseph High Street (Hamrun's main road).
Expect grotesque masks, larger-than-life floats, dance performances, and plenty of laughter and raised eyebrows at the more daring floats! It's the perfect event for families, Carnival lovers, and anyone who needs a good street celebration to let their hair down!
For those attending by car, parking facilities will be available between 6 AM and 6 PM at these locations:
- Mikiel Anton Vassalli College (ex Maria Assumpta) – Triq Joseph Abela Scolaro
- San Gorg Preca College (ex Marija Regina) – Triq Schembri
- San Gorg Preca Liceo – Triq Wenzu Mallia
So, dust off your best costume, grab your party spirit, and get ready for a Carnival to remember!
What will you be dressing up as this year?
