A total of thirteen beaches across Malta and Gozo have been granted the prestigious Blue Flag status for 2025 - a mark of excellence in sustainability, cleanliness, and beach management.

The award, presented by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and administered locally by Nature Trust – FEE Malta, recognises beaches that meet more than 30 rigorous standards, including water quality, safety, environmental education, and public services.

The official announcement was made at Golden Bay. This year’s recognised beaches include:

Malta: Mellieħa Bay, Golden Bay, Paradise Bay Resort Hotel beach (private), Għajn Tuffieħa, Fond Għadir, Fajtata Bay, St George’s Bay, The Westin Dragonara Resort beach (private), Buġibba Perched Beach, and Qawra Point.

Gozo: Ramla Bay, Marsalforn, and Ħondoq Bay.

Meanwhile, Xwejni Bay in Żebbuġ, Gozo was designated a ‘Beach of Quality,’ indicating it is close to earning full Blue Flag certification.

All public Blue Flag beaches are maintained by the Malta Tourism Authority and the Ministry for Gozo and Planning.

The event also featured the release of a rescued turtle named Evie back into the sea after nearly a year of rehabilitation.
