Fr Raymon Portelli is well-known in the Gozitan community for his missionary work in Peru, to which he has dedicated 25 years of his life. A priest and a doctor, Fr Raymond is now on the COVID-19 frontlines in Iquitos, where thousands of cases have been reported.

A Facebook post by the Nadur parish church, Fr Raymond's home village and parish, revealed his hard work: "At the moment, Fr Raymond Portelli, a son of this church is working tirelessly to serve the people of Iquitos, where he is working as a missionary, literally giving them life," the post read.

The post explained that while a large medical plant to produce oxygen had already been bought, more was needed: "A collection is being made to sponsor a second industrial plant to produce oxygen and various medicines," the post read, adding that the parish had already forwarded €2,000 for this noble cause.

Those who would like to help Fr Raymond and the regional hospital of Loreto (where the oxygen plant is being built), can pass on a donation on the following BOV IBAN number: MT82VALL22013000000012417173013.

When she’s not having a quarter-life crisis, Caroline is either drawing in a café, frittering her salary on sushi or swearing at traffic in full-on Gozitan. There is also the occasional daytime drink somewhere in the equation. Or two. A creative must be allowed at least one vice.
