Record-breaking swimmer Neil Agius, who this week completed an insane swim between Sicily and Malta in just 28 hours for anti-pollution campaign #WaveofChange, has issued a statement thanking his supportive team for helping him achieve his goal: "What we achieved as a team was truly something special," he wrote in a lengthy Facebook post.

Expressing his overwhelm at the mammoth win achieved by the team, Neil admitted: "I don't even know where to begin. I knew we were going on an incredible adventure, but it surpassed all my expectations," he wrote.

Mentioning team members individually and highlighting their contribution to the challenge, Neil expressed heartfelt gratitude to each. Last but not least where posts for his parents: "...for taking me to my first swimming lessons and waking up at 5am everyday until I was old enough to drive. You're the best," he wrote.

Also thanking the general public for their support, Neil wrote: "We are nowhere near done, we have just started so stay tuned.

Yay for teamwork!
