WATCH: Wow! Neil Agius becomes second person ever to swim from Sicily to Malta
And it’s all for a fantastic cause!

Sarah Micallef

Local swimmer Neil Agius has successfully completed his incredible swimming challenge, swimming a total of a 100km from Sicily to Malta from yesterday till today.

In an incredible feat of strength and determination, the swimmer is now the second person ever to swim from Sicily to Malta, after Nicky Farrugia did it for the first time in 1985.

Neil completed the swim in support of anti-plastic pollution campaign #WaveofChange, through which he urges members of the public to gather three items of rubbish to raise awareness of the harm we are causing our seas.

Neil has already swam around Malta and around Gozo over the last two years in support of his cause, and now with Sicily-Malta under his belt, who knows what this inspirational activist will do next?

Well done, Neil!
