It’s back! Iljieli Mellehin guarantees a fun-filled night of music, culture and foodie goals!
The annual event up north is back! Iljieli Mellehin 2019 is gearing up to welcome locals and visitors alike to evenings filled with music, culture, history, food (ovja) and entertainment. The event is open to all and is free!
When is Iljieli Mellehin on this year?
The event will run all weekend from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th July beginning with a bang on Friday night at 8pm, with this year’s original musical Nahal tal-Imhabba (Bees of Love), which will be performed at the parish square. Composed by Philip Vella, arranged by Sean Vella, lyrics by Paul P. Borg and directed by Giovann Attard, this musical features various local artists and is not to be missed!
The activities that will have you buzzing!
On Saturday from 6.30pm, a spectacular parade, featuring traditional carnival dancers from various local dance companies, will take place, including a performance by Big Friends Guggen Musik Band. In the square, an exhibition by Jokers Malta Club will be put up, followed by a yummy BBQ and entertainment by local singer Mark Anthony Bartolo, as well as a live concert from Malta’s king himself, Freddie Portelli!
There’s something for everyone at Iljieli Mellehin! A fun-filled programme featuring animation for kids will also be available for the youngsters to enjoy. Other activities include art exhibitions, artisanal products, live jazz music by Groove, activities in aid of Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary, traditional folk music by Ta’ Verna Folk Group, a choir concert by Kor Tal-Ghaqda Muzikali Imperial, a vintage car exhibition and so much more!
