Gaia Cauchi has arrived in Russia to prepare for the New Wave competition, an International Contest for Young Pop Singers being held in Sirius in Russia, between 22nd and 27th August next week.

The local starlet has posted videos of her rehearsals for the contest, showcasing a beautiful rendition of Chiara’s ‘Angel’ but with a twist – Gaia sings it in Russian! She will also be performing two of her original songs, ‘Why’ and ‘11:11’.

Gaia Cauchi rose to fame after appearing on the popular Italian TV show, ‘Ti Lascio Una Canzone’ in 2011, where she performed Tina Turner's ‘Proud Mary’ and wowed Italian audiences. She then went on to win the prestigious Sanremo Junior Music Festival a year later in her category when she was just nine years old.

Her successful career continued when she represented Malta in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2013, winning the contest with her song ‘The Start’. Since then, she has released several singles, and been nominated three times at the Malta Music Awards.

New Wave is a prestigious competition that brings together young artists from all over the world to showcase their talent, acting as a launchpad for many successful artists.

Wishing Gaia the best of luck in this contest!
