Several Melita customers are experiencing an internet service outage after a fibre cable was damaged by third parties.
The leading telecommunications provider said the disruption is affecting customers in the south of Malta and confirmed that its technical teams are already on site working to restore services.
"We are currently experiencing a service outage in the South of the island due to a damaged fibre cable caused by third parties," Melita said in a statement.
In an email to customers, Melita warned that repair works are expected to take up to eight hours.
Melita also reminded customers that emergency calls to 112 for the police, ambulance and fire services can still be made using mobile phones throughout the interruption.
