A terrestial road among the Hazrun Valley, frequenly used by farmers attracted a lot of controversy recently after white concrete was used to surface the road.

The NGO Ramblers, which works to protect the Maltese countryside soon took to their social media to proteset against such an eye sore.

The news has finally come in this morning that Infrastructure Malta(IM) will be reversing the works that had been done.

“Wonderful news about Wied Hazrun this morning. We have been informed that Infrastructure Malta will be reversing the entire surfacing works which have been carried out!”, they wrote.

“This was after discussions between Infrastructure Malta, The Superintendence of Cultural Heritage and ERA. A big thank you to all stakeholders in this matter who did the right thing!”, they continued.

The Ramblers also shared how they have been talking with the IM CEO who showed promise in changing direction regarding the usage of white concrete in the countryside.

Hopefully we can start reversing the damage which has taken place elsewhere”, the Ramblers expressed.

Well done to all those who worked hard to make this happen!
