Locals are mourning the loss of Perit Joe Dimech, a former member of the Nationalist Party as well as a former Mayor of Gozo’s Victoria. Touching tributes have been shared on social media as news spread of his demise.

“A friend has left us, one who I used to meet frequently and for many years,” MP Chris Said shared on social media. “I will never forget our discussions and how in the middle of a conversation you’d manage to slip in a joke or share your experience. I learnt lot from you. I will continue to hold dear the experiences you shared with me every time we met for a coffee.”

His granddaughter also shared a touching tribute on social media, sharing family photos. “The only time a goodbye is painful is when you know you’ll never say hello again. Your love and memories will forever live on in our hearts Nannu! Fly high Perit,” she penned.

Perit Joe Dimech’s funeral will be held tomorrow 5th May at 4.30pm at the Gozo Cathedral. Our heartfelt condolences are with his family and all those who knew him during this difficult time.
