Holy smokes! Vintage shot of Malta’s Trade Fair shows off the island’s flag pre-Independence
Wow!

Do you remember the Malta International Trade Fair Grounds in Naxxar? The open space hosted the trade fair until 14 years ago but is still a landmark used among locals till this day. If you’ve never been to the trade fair, this nostalgic shot will give you quite the picture.

“Who remembers it? It used to serve as an outing too... It was held between 1958-2006, in an area which previously formed part of @palazzoparisio. Hence, note the Maltese flag prior to Independence,” Instagram account @naxxari_tramuntana notes in the social media post, sharing a photo by Salvatore Muscat.

The Maltese flag featured in the photo seems to be what was considered the unofficial flag of Malta between 1943 and 1964 and highly resembles the one we’ve got today.

“Many local citizens used to complain about the traffic caused by this fair; but let’s face it...where is there any place without traffic today in 2020? Many surely miss this old golden times!”

Have you ever been?
