Heritage Malta clarifies controversial party at Mnajdra will only involve DJ recording
The campaign tied to the upcoming event has received criticism.
Heritage Malta has clarified that the event featuring DJ Denis Sulta is not taking place within the Mnajdra Temples but outside the site. It will not be a party, but simply a recording that will not last longer than an hour.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site is only being used as a backdrop during a one-hour live streaming event by Mixmag; a worldwide known electronic dance and clubbing media brand which has around 1.2 million followers on YouTube and 1.6 million followers on Facebook.
When asked about the mention of ticket sales in the media, a representative of Heritage Malta said that “organisers have decided not to allow an audience.” Only DJ Denis Sulta will be on site while performing music to an immaculate backdrop of the sun setting over Mnajdra Temples streamed live on the internet.
A number of restrictions were made on the organizers, including the level and type of sound and the type of lights which can be used during this event in order to safeguard the temples. At no point during the event will there be access to enter the Mnajdra Temples themselves and Heritage Malta officials will be present to ensure that all these conditions are adhered to.
Phew!
