Here’s a round-up of the insane & hilarious things that happened during yesterday’s storm
A lot went down yesterday…

Yesterday, Malta & Gozo experienced what was an insane start to rainy season as quite the thunderstorm hit across the islands. And while some things were just absolutely crazy to watch or witness, others were absolutely hilarious which reinforces our belief that Maltese are royalty in the humour department. Here are just some of the things that happened yesterday.

1. Poor Xwejni Bay

Xwejni Bay was a victim of the wack thunderstorm that hit yesterday. The secluded bay in Gozo’s Zebbug turned into a pond. According to it-Temp Madwarna, over 101mm of rain was recorded in Gozo.

2. Flooded bus

If you’ve ever ridden on Maltese buses in heavy rain, you may have experienced this. As this bus passed through nearly knee-deep waters, some (well, a little more than some) got inside…

3. River Ramla?

What looked like the River Nile was actually Ramla Bay. The popular Gozitan beach known for its glorious red sands was utterly flooded by the heavy rains. Hope it's alright!

And of course, an endless source of memes were created throughout the day. Heq, Allura Facebook page created this meme that represents people dodging attending church…. Whoops

5. Meanwhile in Marsa…

Ah, another gem of a meme! Marsa is currently undergoing major structural works as 7 flyovers are currently being built. However, during yesterday’s thunderstorms, quite the lake was formed. We’ll let the meme do the talking.
