Although we might usually associate the start of spring with the 21st March, meteorological spring actually starts today, on the 1st March.
This means that the days are about to get much longer!
Today the sun is setting at 5:56pm but by the end of this month, the sun will be setting at 7:22pm, ‘Maltese Islands Weather’ reported.
The main difference between the spring we’re used to, and meteorological spring is that the latter is based on the annual temperature cycle and lasts till the end of May.
On the other hand, spring as we know it is based on the position of the Earth in relation to the sun.
And even though meteorological spring started today, the weather outside isn’t looking much like it.
This should all change as sunnier and warmer weather is expected to hit Malta and Gozo as more days pass by.
