Heads up, folks! Ix-Xatt ta’ Xbiex (Seafront) Road in Gzira will be closed tonight between 8pm and 6am tomorrow morning, Infrastructure Malta have announced.

The road “will be closed as we carry out temporary repairs to parts of the surface of this road which subsided due to weak, eroded foundations,” they said in a Facebook post. The entity warned motorists of diversions and to be cautious when driving in this area. “Follow diversion signs from Manoel Island Bridge area to alternative route through Il-Gzira Road and Tas-Sliema Road, towards Kappara roundabout.”

Infrastructure Malta also noted that works will continue at night between tomorrow and Sunday 10th in the morning, but the road will remain open. “The temporary repairs will improve surface conditions until we can rebuild it after the utilities lay new sewers and other underground networks in coming months,” they concluded.
