Heads up! Malta Public Transport to change to winter schedule from this Sunday

Attention bus users! Malta Public Transport has announced they will be changing back to the winter schedule with effect from Sunday 11th October 2020. Bus routes have been revised to accommodate the commuting needs of passengers, with 25 extra trips per day being added to high-demand routes during peak hours. A new route serving the Kunċizzjoni area in the limits of Baħrija has also been introduced and will start operating as Route 109A.

The changes to the schedule are as follows:

1. Route 2 between Valletta and Birgu will add an earlier trip from Birgu Centre at 05:25 on weekdays

2. Route 43 between Valletta and Naxxar will increase frequency to every 20 minutes in peak hours on weekdays

3. Route 50 between Valletta and Rabat will run every hour during the morning and afternoon peak hours on weekdays

4. Route 82 between Valletta and Birżebbuġa will add an earlier trip from Birżebbuġa Terminus at 05:25 on weekdays

5. Route 90 between Valletta and Żabbar will add an earlier trip from Żabbar Terminus at 05:25 on weekdays

6. Route 91 between Valletta and Marsaskala will add an earlier trip from Marsaskala Terminus at 05:25 on weekdays

7. Route X4 between Valletta and Birżebbuġa will add earlier trips from Birżebbuġa Terminus at 05:15, 05:40 and at 06:00 on weekdays

8. Route 222 between Sliema and Ċirkewwa will add an earlier trip from Ċirkewwa at 05:25 on weekdays

9. Route X1A between Paola and Ċirkewwa will start operating two morning trips from Ċirkewwa at 06:40 and at 07:05 on weekdays

10. Route 4 between Valletta and Birgu will change to an hourly service from 08:00 onwards on weekdays

11. Route 15 between Valletta and Sliema will change to an hourly service all day on weekdays

12. Route 21 between Valletta and Sliema will change to a half-hourly service all day on weekdays

13. Route 35 between Valletta and San Ġwann will change to an hourly service from 09:00 onwards on weekdays

14. Route 51 between Valletta and Mtarfa will change to a half-hourly service all day on weekdays

15. Route 62 between Valletta and Siġġiewi will change to a half-hourly service from 08:00 onwards on weekdays

16. Route 223 between Buġibba and Għajn Tuffieħa will change to an hourly service all day every day including weekends

17. Route 310 between Victoria and Marsalforn will operate every 45 minutes all day every day including weekends 

The summertime extended journeys to beaches will return to the regular routes. While buses are being cleaned and sanitised more frequently, Malta Public Transport reminds all passengers that face masks must be worn throughout the bus trip and should passengers wish to pay in cash, they must produce the correct fare. Contactless payment for cash tickets is also available on a number of buses on busy routes.
