The Environmental Health Directorate is urging locals not to consume the popular energy drink, Monster, the Lewis Hamilton line in particular, as it may contain high amounts of a particular additive.

“In accordance with the Food Safety Act and Regulation (EC) No. 178 of 2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council, the Environmental Health Directorate within the Superintendence of Public Health wishes to inform the public that from information received through the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed, said product must not be consumed in view of the possible presence in excessive amounts of the additive propylene glycol (E1520),” the statement read.

All durability dates and lot numbers of the 500ml energy drink are not to be consumed considering the excessive amount of the additive. Further information or queries can be addressed by contacting the Health Inspectorate Services between 8am and 2.30pm on 2133 7333 or on [email protected]. Alternatively you can check out their Facebook page or official website.
