Hang onto your hat, 2026! Windy and unsettled weather expected across Malta for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day
If you’re planning to ring in the New Year outdoors, it’s worth keeping an eye on the forecast, as unsettled and windy weather is expected to close off the year and welcome the next.
On New Year’s Eve (31st December), conditions are forecast to be partly cloudy, becoming cloudier at times, with the chance of some light rain. Winds will be blowing from the west-northwest at Force 5, strengthening to Force 6 by the evening, making it feel cooler, especially after sunset.
Looking ahead to New Year’s Day (1st January), the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy, with occasional showers and colder conditions overall. Winds will shift to a northwesterly direction, ranging between Force 6 and occasionally reaching Force 7, which could make it feel quite brisk throughout the day.
As for today, Tuesday, cloudy conditions are set to persist, with intermittent rain showers throughout the day. Winds will remain moderate to rather strong (Force 4 to 5) from the northwest, while temperatures are expected to reach a high of 18°C, dropping to a low of 12°C.
Those heading out over the coming days are advised to plan accordingly, dress warmly, and take extra care in windy conditions, particularly along the coast.
