Hal Kirkop cancels local Christmas market in light of Leonard Camilleri’s tragic death
The Christmas market was originally planned for the 3rd and 4th December.
Last Saturday, on the 26th December, firework enthusiast Leonard Camilleri tragically lost his life after the Saint Joseph’s firework factory blast in Hal Kirkop.
In light of this tragedy, the Hal Kirkop local council has announced that it will be cancelling the Christmas market planned for the 3rd and 4th December.
“After the tragedy that has hit the Hal Kirkop village on Saturday, 26th November, where unfortunately Leonard Camilleri lost his life, the Council has urgently met and unanimously agreed that the event, ‘GIGANTIC - Kirkop's Local Christmas Market’ […] will be cancelled”, the council wrote on social media this morning.
“The council feels that as the locality is mourning, this joyous activity cannot happen”, they continued.
“We again show our solidarity with Leonard’s family, relatives and friends”, the Council concluded.
Rest in Peace Leonard!
