Friday 7th January: 786 new COVID-19 cases registered as 86-year-old patient passes away
123 virus patients are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital.

The Health Authority’s Facebook page, Sahha, has published today's figures. Malta has registered 786 new cases in the past 24 hours.

The islands have registered 888 recoveries, meaning that the country’s total number of active cases now stands at 14,962.

The post also noted that until yesterday, 7th January, Malta had administered 1,114,588 vaccine doses. 261,838 of these were booster doses.

One COVID-19 patient passed away in the past 24 hours: an 86-year-old woman. This brings the country’s virus death toll up to 485.

A total of 123 patients are being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, seven of whom are in ITU.
