Fly high! Malta Pride calls on locals to vote for a new pride flag following recent controversy
Wave that flag!

Malta Pride is asking the community to vote for a new pride flag. Their original pride flag was surrounded by controversy, as some locals believed that the Maltese flag depicting the prestigious George Cross and red and white colours, shouldn’t be touched. Fair enough...

In light of this, the LGBT+ organisation issued a call for locals to get creative and design options for their new flag. And now, the proposals are in! Which is your favourite?

1. The original

The original pride flag splits the national flag in half, featuring the white section with the Maltese cross on one side, and the pride colours on the other.

2. Love heart

This one features the Maltese flag in the shape of a heart on the rainbow coloured pride flag.

3. A fusion

With the same concept as above, this design features the original national flag with the background being the pride flag.

4. A piece of history

This one is pretty cool. Design number four features the pride colours and Malta’s historical eight-pointed cross in the centre in white.

5. Unity

This proposal features the Maltese flag fusing into the pride flag’s vertical stripes.

6. One love

This is a cute one, too. The Maltese flag is used as the background and a small(ish) heart bearing the pride colours is placed in the centre.
