One of Malta’s best-known shelter dogs has finally gotten his happy ending…
11-year-old Winston, an American Akita who was found abandoned, malnourished, and severely neglected last April, has left for his forever home – all the way in Germany!
MSPCA, the sanctuary which housed Winston throughout the past months, took to social media to celebrate this occasion.
“We can’t believe we are writing this message, dear Winston. Your time has come to move on and start a new life. A new home in Germany awaits where you will live the rest of your golden years loved, fed, and cared for, as you deserve,” MSPCA wrote.
“During the months you spent with us, you showed us what a true fighter looks like, and how grateful you are to us for saving your life. Because of you and others like you, we will continue to stand up for animal rights to hopefully end animal abuse and neglect. You will always be a special dog to the MSPCA,” the sanctuary continued.
Winston celebrated his 11th birthday at MSPCA last month, with the sanctuary’s carers whipping him up a fantastic-looking peanut butter and cinnamon cake.
Mere days after that, Winston took home the ‘Shelter Animal Most Deserving of a Home’ title at this year’s edition of the Animal Honours Awards.
This morning, MSPCA once again took to social media to reveal that Winston has successfully made his journey to Germany and has “settled in really well.”
“Enjoy your golden years, lovely Winston,” the sanctuary concluded.
