Families of Covid-positive victims can hold a funeral for their loved ones – health ministry

Malta’s health authority has announced that a revision of the current burial process when it comes to Covid-positive patients is being done, following evaluation done by the World Health Organisation.

“From now on, families of persons who die with Covid-19 will have up to 24 hours to bury their loved ones. It will also be possible to hold a funeral in churches and worship places, as per regulations in churches.”

“From the beginning of the pandemic, our country has always followed the guidelines issued by the World Health Organisation and the ECDC in every aspect. This includes the burial of persons that died while being Covid-positive.”
