The Għajnsielem Local Council has opened a state-of-the-art educational centre dedicated to the sea around us together with a new public library.

This is officially Gozo’s second Marine Centre, with the first one located in Dwejra.

The centre is equipped with the latest interactive technology and offers an educational experience about the fishing industry, the traditional Maltese boats, the protection of the marine environment and interesting information about the fish caught in the Mediterranean Sea.

In addition to a maritime centre, the building will host a new public library with direct access to a primary school where students take the opportunity to learn in a colourful environment full of educational material.

Part of this centre is also dedicated to the harbour of Mġarr and includes several old photographs as well as a digital library displayed on interactive kiosks.
