Ever seen a Maltese two shillings? This 102-year-old bank note will blow you away
It was later corrected to one shiling.
Younger generations have grown accustomed to the Euro, but most locals still remember the Maltese Lira in use. Older generations may even recall earlier variations of it, including the mills coins, used to split cents into smaller units. However, it is highly improbable that anyone living today remembers the British currency used in Malta in the early 20th century.
A picture of banknote for two shillings, the equivalent of 12 cents, has recently been shared to Instagram. The Maltese banknote dates back to 1918 and was later corrected to read one shilling. "What a beauty it is!" reads the caption.
