The MICAS International Symposium presents a two day conference in Floriana focusing on museum typologies, heritage, architecture, and contemporary art. The academic event brings together an international group of architects, curators, historians, and sociologists to discuss how modern cultural institutions develop within layered historic environments. Attendees will explore how small island nations navigate public cultural aspirations and institutional architectural design.
The program includes moderated discussions, a research roundtable, and an architectural walkthrough of the site led by the project architects. Featured speakers include prominent international professors and directors from institutions such as Harvard, ETH Zürich, and Université Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne, alongside local experts and the architects of the MICAS galleries. The sessions will be moderated by Vicky Richardson.
