Ebejer has always given a focal importance to the female figure, as he has always regarded females as the leaders in the Maltese Society, even though the hostile years when females had no rights to vote and no possibilities to voice their opinions.
The role of women in Ebejer’s works was always portrayed as a strong, determined figures, as a point of reference to all. This is how Ebejer presents Rużann’s character.
This pop adaptation of the script is aimed at giving a contemporary twist to this classic text, to highlight the contrasts between past and present Malta, particularly when it comes to female emancipation and participation.
