Emma Grech and Raissa Camilleri are the first Maltese doubles athletes to qualify for Hyrox World Championships
Maltese athletes Emma Grech and Raissa Camilleri have just become the first athletes from Malta and Gozo to qualify at the prestigious HYROX World championships.
The two travelled to Manchester in the UK earlier this week where they competed together for the first time ever after only training together for two months.
There they finished third in their age group and fourth overall from 291 teams!
Unfortunately, they were penalised for a rookie mistake which pushed them back to eight place.
Nonetheless, they still managed to make it to the top ten and have now qualified for the Hyrox World Championships, becoming the first Maltese double female team ever to do so.
“We had an absolute blast”, Raissa wrote on her social media.
“Massive thank you to Hyrox double legend Emma for being there with me on the daily at 6am pushing each other well beyond our limits. Thanks for always making the process fun buddy”, Raissa continued as she thanked her teammate.
Massive well-done Emma and Raissa!
