It happened early this morning.
What were you doing at around 1am this morning? For those who weren’t fast asleep, things got a little more exciting than usual, as tremors hit Malta following a powerful earthquake in Greece.
Several locals reported feeling the tremors to different degrees, with others admitting that while they didn’t feel much, their pets knew something was up, with dogs straining to be let out and birds “simultaneously freaking out”, according to one animal lover.
The earthquake, which hit the western coast of Greece, was of a magnitude of 6.4, with an impressive epicentre of 33 kilometres – putting it 50 km south of the island of Zakynthos.
While Greece suffers from thousands of earthquakes per year due to its position within one of the world’s most earthquake prone regions, tremors from the quakes are rarely ever felt as far away as Malta.
Did you feel it?
