The enchanting shores of Gozo, specifically Dwejra, was once a movie set! The Dwejra Tower social media page shared this historical fact on their page, sharing some cinematic magic.

In 2009, a film called ‘Vicky the Viking’ brought the Vikings back to the island's shores. This live-action comedy, based on Runer Jonsson's 'Vicke Viking' children's book series, left its mark on Dwejra Tower.

The knight's watchtower, a sentinel of Gozo's history, underwent a temporary transformation for the film. Volunteers from Din L-Art Helwa captured the moment in a snapshot, revealing the tower's cinematic alter ego.

‘Vicky the Viking,’ produced by Christian Becker, premiered on the 9th of September 2009, in Munich, taking audiences on a whimsical journey with young Vicky. The film grossed approximately $5,595,895 during its opening weekend, attesting to its global appeal.

Beyond the tower's cameo, you can also spot the iconic 'Azure Window' making a walk-on appearance, immortalising both natural and cinematic wonders.

This throwback not only reminisces about Gozo’s cinematic adventures but also celebrates the fusion of history and fantasy in the heart of Gozo.
