Traffic is getting worse with the re-opening of schools and the vast amount of construction and road works blocking several traffic-relieving streets across all Malta. And, if you live in the areas of Mosta and Mgarr, or must pass through them to reach your destination, you're going to need to avoid these roads.

Infrastructure Malta announced that part of San Pawl tal-Qliegha Road, between Mosta and Mgarr, will be closed for overnight works. “We are laying a new asphalt surface at the Sriedek roundabout approach and exit lanes at the end of this road, as part of the Buqana Road reconstruction project. No access to Buqana Road and Sir Temi Zammit Road (to Mgarr) or vice versa”, Infrastructure Malta elaborated via a Facebook statement.

The road, which was also closed last night, will be closed again today between the hours of 8pm until 5am on Wednesday morning. The roadworks in the area are now reaching their final stages, with the last coatings of asphalt being layered at night for minimal discomfort to road users.

In a separate post, Infrastructure Malta also announced that work on Manwel Dimech Street in Sliema - a one-kilometre street which extends from the Ferries area of Sliema to Balluta Bay in St Julians - is kicking off today. New underground water mains and Internet networks, upgrading of pavements and a new surface on reinforced foundations are amongst the scheduled works for the area.
