Dog who waited 14 months in local shelter finds a home, just in time for Christmas
Just look at the joy on his face!

Sarah Micallef

It’s that time of year that we all find ourselves getting a little emotional, but this story will pull on your heart strings in all the right ways.

You see, this adorable boy – a healthy, happy German Pointer named Cooper – has been at a local shelter waiting for a forever home for 14 months. And now, he’s been adopted, just in time for Christmas!

Local animal welfare and adoption page Rescued is my Favourite Breed first shared a post about Cooper’s story back in November, calling him “the longest timer at AW” (Animal Welfare). Having seen many of his doggie friends come and go during his time at the shelter, the “gentle giant” (who is also a blood donor who has saved three lives!) kept getting left behind… that is, until now!

Last night, beautiful Cooper went to his new home, in what the page called a “really special” adoption. The photos of the adorable doggo show his joyful face as he heads home to his new family “after sleeping in a shelter pen for 400 nights.”

The post announcing the adoption goes on to thank all those at Ghammieri who made Cooper’s time at the shelter as comfortable and special as possible, before wishing him “Happy Christmas Coopie!”

We’re just a little teary over here… excuse us.
