Do you love Malta as much as these guys? Locals speak about their love for the islands
Many have called Malta “home” over the years

A recent post on Facebook has sparked quite the discussion, and a positive one at that. Local Frank Grech posted to Facebook group Bongu Malta a 'finish-this-sentence-type' post saying "I love Malta because…” which raked in loads of comments from locals near and far.

Some comments verged on the soppy but totally sweet side like, "It’s where my heart is.” “Because it is in my blood,” and “It’s my happy place” said another two Facebook users.

A lot of people took the obvious route saying things like "Because it’s my country,” and “because I was born there” while others ventured onto the more sentimental comments.

"I met my wonderful husband there,” said one user. Awh! Someone else also posted a photo saying "I may not live in Malta, but Malta lives in me.” #patriotic.

Someone else went in full gush-mode. “Malta has a unique character and vibe you don't find anywhere else! It's also so beautiful to look at! True that all those high buildings are going up, but the uniqueness of Malta is still there. When I go there, I feel like I have gone to my second home... everything feels so familiar,” she says.

Others also mentioned the historic and cultural background Malta and Gozo have, and the importance they hold, mentioning top spots around the islands such as museums, beaches and gorgeous landscapes, as well as the obvious: the cuisine! Someone even posted a GIF saying “Keep Calm and Eat a Pastizzi.” A true malteser right there.

What do you love about Malta?
