Maltese food is the 94th best in the world, at least according to TasteAtlas.

The global food travel site released its annual rankings last December, but they’re gaining some online traction right now.

Malta is ranked 94th, just below Israel and just above Nigeria.

The classic pastizz and fenek are ranked as our best national dishes, both earning a score of 4.1 stars out of five. Ġbejna came in third with rating of 3.8.

Unsurprisingly, Italy was rated as the best food destination, with Greece second, and Peru third.

Portugal, Spain, Japan, Türkiye, China, France, and Indonesia made up the remaining top ten.

For Malta, it marks a ten-place drop from 2024/25, when it was ranked 84th.
