COVID-19: Malta will start vaccination roll out from 27th December, as per EU regulations
Malta will begin giving the COVID-19 vaccination as from 27th December, in line with EU regulations as European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen just announced an update.
“It’s Europe’s moment. On 27th, 28th, and 29th December vaccination will start across the EU,” she tweeted today. In comments to Times of Malta, Health Minister Chris Fearne also confirmed the news that vaccinations will begin in Malta on 27th December. “The plan is for all EU countries to vaccinate on the same day.”
He noted that authorization from the EMA is expected on Monday 21st December and the first doses are expected to be on the islands on 27th December.
Earlier this week, EP VP Roberta Metsola also announced the news that the European Medicines Agency (EMA) “was able to move up its decision to approve a COVID19 vaccine to next week. This means that people in Malta, Gozo, and across Europe could get the first doses of the vaccine already before the end of the year.”
