Could we REALLY have Maltese blood in the White House? Pete Buttigieg rises in the polls!
He also received a whopping sum from backers for the second quarter.
American Presidential hopeful (and half-Malteser) Pete Buttigieg is slaying the polls for the Democratic party, which means that we very well may be seeing Maltese blood up in the big White House come 2020.
Pete Buttigieg, or Mayor Pete as everyone calls him, has secured a place among the top Democratic contenders for the 2020 presidential race, polling fifth in quite the crowded Democratic pool, and having an average of 6.5 per cent of the vote.
The youngest candidate to ever run for office has raised $24.8 million in the second quarter in donations, which is good news after the Buttigieg campaign was rocked by the fatal police shooting of African-American Eric Logan last month in South Bend, Pete’s hometown.
More than 294,000 donors have backed Pete’s campaign between April and June, following his strong performance in last week’s Democratic presidential debate as well as quite the first quarter, reeling in $7 million. The money will be used to boost staffing, hold more events and travel around the country to spread their message.
In the recent Democratic debate, Pete touched on hot topics that are affecting everyone in America and worldwide. “When I get to the current age of the current president in the year 2055, I want to be able to look back on these years and say my generation delivered climate solutions, racial equality, and an end to endless war. Help me deliver that new generation to Washington before it’s too late.”
